I'm working on getting more detail on the picture, but here is what I have so far... Gorgeous... Congratulations to Bob and Don for owning such a historic landmark and keeping it so nicely..

Kyle,

I can move the car if you want to try again. Let me know and I'll park it in the back.

Okay, Bob.. Tonight.. And could you get that third dormer lit, for Pete's sake!!! In the meantime, I'm going to educate myself on how to not have the lights so blown out.

Last night's attempt was taken with my Nikon, but this picture was taken with the Sigma DP2. It's a very nice camera-click the name if you're interested in knowing more.

Anyone care to share where the lights in every window tradition comes from?

When I was a child, the light was placed in the window to show there was room for a weary traveler. It hearkened back to the "No room in the inn" when Mary and Joseph found only a stable where Mary finally gave birth.
I know of some that place the candle in the window when a member is in the service. It remains there until the family member is welcomed home.

What a magnificent picture of a magnificent home all lit up for the Christmas/Honica season/tradition.

DMD's post made me think of this song.

CCR, Long As I Can See The Light

Thanks, k... Challenging lighting conditions, for sure..

Thanks, Don, and could you get that third dormer lit back up... It looks so ghetto that it's bringing home values down all over the neighborhood... LOL... It was lit for the picture, but I noticed it out tonight while driving home..

Alright... just get the damned dormer lit!!! LOL......

What is that-1 controller for the entire house? I bought an X10 camera once that came with a dexterous multi-axis base that had a remote control. Their stuff is pretty cutting-edge.

Actually, I"m pretty proud of the way the Sigma DP2 captured the mansion, and I hope it lives on in perpetuity long after I'm gone... The 2010 Orange-Whitney Mansion Christmas pic...

"X10"? That's so old-school. Don't you know everyone uses wifi now? Wink Laughing

Seriously, nice pictures, nice house.

Don, you don't know how much I appreciate that. Living only three mansions away, my property values were surely affected by that blight on the neighborhood. Many thanks!

If you see a shadowy figure on your front lawn tonight, it's just me trying to get a straight-on shot with your beautiful inside trimmings displayed in the picture.. With your permission, of course.

The restraining order prevents me from coming inside and taking proper pictures, Don, so I have to rely on what I can capture with my zoom lens.... Were those penny-loafers??!!!! What a Face

(I want to photograph the inside decor, friend... )
